  • Nike’s Atsuma sneaker uses the concept of negative pattern cutting (also known as subtraction pattern cutting and zero waste pattern cutting) to reduce waste. When a shape is cut out of the material the aim is to also find a use for waste material in the design of the sneaker. This approach is part of Nike's ‘Move to Zero’ focus on sustainability.
