Felted Remembrance Day Poppies

I originally saw this brilliant idea for a textiles project on the Textile Teachers Centre Facebook group. It is a project by Veronica Dixon making felt poppies to be sold for Remembrance Day.

They look fantastic and the idea is very original. They are an excellent way of raising the profile of textiles whilst raising money and focusing on teaching and learning.

Veronica has used felting but the poppies could be made using a variety of other textiles techniques.

Whilst this particular project is obviously most suitable for this time of year it could easily be developed for other charity events and things like Enterprise projects.

Veronica’s students raised over 200 Euros for charity from the poppies they sold.
