  • This article on tackling climate change has some interesting thinking points for students to consider when they are designing, along with examples of designers who are using some of these ideas to influence their own work
  • Some great inspiration to get students thinking a little differently - a piece of luggage that doubles up as a coat and a bag you can ‘wear’ or carry in your hand. I’m not sure I’d want to wear either but the concept of multi functional products is great. What’s also interesting is the designs were created by Elizabeth Diller, a leading architect for Prada as part of ‘Prada Invites’, a collaborative project with Diller and 2 other architects to take Prada’s iconic nylon fabric & use it in other ways. (designs from the other 2 architects can be seen on Prada’s website at )
  • This Thermoman video is a great introduction to Nomex aramid technical textiles fibres

Product in a Tin competition - You’ve got to be in it to win it!

This is the final term to get this year's Product in a Tin competition entries ready (closing date 1st August). Don’t forget each school that enters gets a free resource. If students don’t want to part with their work photo entries can be submitted. These can’t win a prize although they can be considered for inclusion on the website.
