Happy Christmas!

Apologies for the lack of blog over the last couple of weeks. We moved house on 5th December and it has been chaos ever since! It has taken a while to get the internet sorted out and emptying all the boxes is going to take even longer!

This is just a quick message to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and I will do a more detailed blog just before school restarts in the New Year.

For those of you that are textiles focused and who want something to work on over the holiday take a look at the new edition of Sewing World magazine as there is an article and project in there on the use of high tech materials and components in textiles. This is part of a series of articles with this focus that will be published from now until June.

The first project is an insulated lunch bag that uses a high tech silver backed insulating material similar to the one used in bags in the shops. The instructions for the bag are in the article but if you want support to make it there is a £30 workshop to compliment the article taking place on January 24th at the venue I use in Nottingham. For more details on the workshop click here

There is also a teaching resource on Modern, Smart & Electronic Textiles which includes a scheme of work for the bag in the article as well as a range other resources on high tech materials and components. You can find more information about this resource by clicking here.

Finally I would like to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas and I look forward to writing a more detailed blog at the beginning of the New Year.
