NTU Exhibition Visit

At the beginning of July, Millie, my niece, and I visited the degree show exhibition at Nottingham Trent University. This is the second year I have taken Millie to see the show. At a very grown up 12 years old, and nearing the end of her first year in ‘big school’, Millie has lots of demands on her time, especially as she is heavily into various sports, so we are able to do less designing and making together. It was nice therefore to be able to visit the exhibition at NTU and to share our interest in textiles and fashion.

The exhibition is a large one with lots of different courses exhibiting work, ranging from fashion courses, costume making, decorative arts through to product design. There is lots to see over several sites and the visit easily takes up a morning. The venues the work is displayed in is in itself impressive especially the Newton building.

Millie didn’t have time during her visit to do any work in her sketchbook on what she had seen but we both had an enjoyable morning. I certainly came away inspired!
