Group Quilts

Back in August last year I was asked to showcase my designer maker work for the morning on the Husqvarna Viking stand at The Festival of Quilts at the NEC. This was a great morning and you can see more about it here

After my spot on the stand I got the opportunity to have a look round the show, including the vast array of quilts being displayed. There was lots of impressive work, but something of particular interest to me  was the number of quilts produced by schools and groups for young people such as the Scouts.

The quilts were both impressive because of their size and the work involved especially as many were from primary schools.

In the past I have worked with a lot of students to produce similar quilts. This type of project is a great example of how contributing something small can result in a fabulous end result. In particular it is very inclusive of all ability levels, and as many of the quilts show, is a great way to bring together and celebrate a group community.

Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the schools for these last 2 quilts but they were amongst my favourites.
